Our Lady of Mercy Reveals Unified Logo

Designed by Covalent Logic
Mercy is where I hear God's voice.
In the laughter of school children
In the dancing of the fountain
In the silence of the adoration chapel
In the Pastor's homily

Mercy is where I speak with God's love
At the patient's bedside
At the meeting in the activity hall
At the front of the classroom
At Mass on my knees

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain Mercy

Our Lady of Mercy
Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Today, Our Lady of Mercy Church and School parish unveiled its updated visual identity for the church and school. The logo was created following a standard brand development process including research, analysis and survey of stakeholders. It reflects the organization's commitment to its longstanding, traditional values and faithful allegiance to spiritual and academic excellence.

"Our Lady of Mercy has been a strong parish in the diocese and a fundamental center of Catholic education in the Baton Rouge community for more than 60 years, Father Cleo Milano said. "We wanted to unify the church and school into one symbol and type treatment that would pay homage to our past and last for several generations."

The logo was designed by Darren Vincent, school alumnus and artist at Covalent Logic, a local adaptive communications agency hired to manage the identity development. "It was an honor to be chosen for such a historic and important project in the local community," said co-founder of Covalent Logic, Stafford Kendall.

Our Lady of Mercy was founded in 1953 as a mission of Sacred Heart. Rev. Cleo J. Milano became pastor in July and considered the "One Mercy" project as one of his first initiatives to build on the rich traditions in the Parish.

"This logo is a tangible reflection of the unity of our Parish and respect for the Blessed Mother," Father Milano said in a schoolwide Mass held this morning. Parishioners received an email (link) and the community can now view a launch video on the Our Lady of Mercy website at www.olomchurch.com.
