Louisiana Saltwater Series launches with new look

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced a new website today featuring open registration for this year's Louisiana Saltwater Series: http://www.lasaltwaterseries.com/.

The site was designed to provide essential tournament information, pictures and results while also bringing a playful atmosphere to Louisiana fishing.

Now in its second year, the Saltwater Series tournament was developed by LDWF to promote conservation of Louisiana's saltwater sport fish resources, as well as proper tagging techniques and procedures that provide the department with a wealth of information on fish population and health.

This year, the tournament includes a youth division aimed at anglers 16 and under in an effort to teach proper catch-release methods.

The tournament begins April 2 at the Seaway Marina in Lafitte, La., and runs through Oct. 8 for the rodeo championship.
